Beautiful views at the water's edge with fresh haddock, halibut, scallops and clams. Wines included a nearly perfect riesling, a surprisingly tasty PG, an overly oaky SB, and a sauternes just entering maturity at 24 years.

1988 Château Sigalas Rabaud
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
deep gold, honeyed, botrytis nose. Sugared walnuts, marmalade on palate. Excellent, but for a slightly clipped finish would be outstanding ****

2007 Hartwell Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Reserve
USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
Huge sauvignon blanc. On this third bottle, the oak is really starting to predominate. Where the interesting Musque' clone characteristics predominated two years ago, now it seems overshadowed by the oak. There's still tons of fruit; but if I had more in stock , I probably would hold this for many years to let it all integrate. almost ****, but for lack of balance currently

1995 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese
Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Great stuff. thick pale yellow straw colored. petrolly, schwitzig, apple pear flavors, mouth coating with a good dose of sweetness, but kept in laser sharp focus by the bracing acidity. With only 7% alc, this is the perfect afternoon aperitif. Stunning *****
