Thought we'd open some Cali Pinots tonight.
Sea Smoke has always been a sentimental favorite of mine. It was one of the first mailing list wines that I was able to purchase, however, over the last 5 years or so, I have been increasingly disenchanted with Sea Smoke. While always enjoyable, they never seem to wow me anymore. I may be done purchasing them. there are alot of other wines in that price range that deliver alot more.
2008 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Botella 86 Points
USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
The lightest of tonights offerings. Fairly light bodied and more dilute than I remembered but a pleasant bottle of wine that would have been better if tasted by itself.

2008 Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing 88 Points
USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
Considerably more heft than the Botella bottling. Mostly dark fruit framed in subtle oak with some spice notes. Med bodied. Nice, but I think I'm on the verge of foregoing future Sea Smoke purchases. There seems to be alot of other wines out there with a much better qpr.

2008 Sojourn Pinot Noir Rodgers Creek Vineyard Sonoma Coast 90 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
The clear winner for tonight. Much deeper and richer dark and red fruit with earthy undertones and white pepper on the finish. Drinking nicely today.
