Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2004 WillaKenzie Estate Pinot Blanc 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

This was a winner. I really liked the earthiness of the nose. This was followed by fig, apple, and spice smells. The palate had the same earth flavors mixed with some very nice floral notes. The mid palate showed some nice fig and pear tastes. The acidity was just right and it finished nicely.

  • 2005 King Estate Pinot Gris 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

This wine was fantastic. The nose had wonderful pear and apple aromas that were paired with some spice and floral notes. The palate had the same fruit and spices as the nose, as well as some wet stone flavors. The acidity was nice and the finish long and tasty.

  • 2005 J Vineyards & Winery Pinot Gris Russian River Valley 89 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

This wine had some nice tropical fruit flavors. The nose was mainly peach, apricot, and pear, along with a touch of floral notes. The palate was even tastier than the nose, with peach, pear, and some citrus friut. Added to the fruit was some stone flavors. The acidity was crisp and the finish fruity.

  • 2004 J. Wilkes Pinot Blanc Bien Nacido Vineyard 89 Points

USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley

This had a very interesting nose. There was lots of sweaty sock smells upfront. Underneath was nice amounts of pear, apple, fig, and spice. The palate had some nice earth flavors, mixed with some fig, apple, and spice. The acidity was just right, and the finish held on for a long time.

  • 2005 Colterenzio Schreckbichl Pinot Grigio Alto Adige - Südtirol Schreck Bichl 86 Points

Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Alto Adige - Südtirol

This wine was very closed, both on the nose and the palate. The nose had had small amounts of pear, apple, and floral notes. The palate was dominated by stone flavors, as well as some pear. The acidity was a little low and the finish was not very long.
