tasted blind, notes from poor memory Tasted Thursday, March 15, 2012 by indiscriminate palate with 399 views
Very nice champagne. Citrus (lemon, grapefruit, orange) and yeastiness on the nose, rich citrus palate with some minerality/earth.

Beautiful, complex, aromatic nose of black fruit, tobacco, espresso, earth. Good structure. Very nice wine.
Richer and more intense than the 2002 Malescot drank alongside it, but both were clearly from the same vintage. Very ripe and aromatic.
Tasted blind, and all seemed in agreement that this was far from impressive. Perhaps there is some bottle variation, but it was not flawed, but disjointed and lacking concentration or purity.
Came across as somewhat austere and very youthful. Good acid and tannin, but somewhat muted fruit. Surprisingly little development at 10 years.
Red fruits, wood spice, and a menagerie of savory flavors (Worcestershire/Soy, meat).
Leather, dark fruits, some green notes, and good acidity, had me thinking a Super Tuscan from an under-ripe vintage.
Light bodied and showing finesse. Not particularly complex, but much better (and with higher acid) than its vintage would suggest.
Very concentrated, sweet, with honey burying the subtleties beneath. Not a great showing.
