Introduction

We had a great evening :-) Even if I must confess to stop writing near the end... I ran out of stamina. Need more practice :-)

Flight 1 - Dry and non-Rieslings (6 Notes)

A good start with a wide variety of quality in the wines.

Flight 2 - Dry and Semi-dry (4 Notes)

Reinhold Haart manages to fill his wines with benzin/petrochemicals. Especially the first of his wines almost gave some tasters whip-lash-damage from the reflex action to throw back our head when you sniff something potentially dangerous. The cheapest wine actually stood up well throughout the night.

Flight 3 - Semi-dry (4 Notes)

Zilliken stole the show completely.

Flight 4 - Semi sweet (3 Notes)

This was the most consistently GREAT flight.

Flight 5 - Sweet (5 Notes)

A pity that Egon M:s Schartzhofberger was murkily corked - behind the cork was a monstrously concentrated wine. The sweet flight was ended as we introduced the 1989 Urziger Wurzgarten, full of "paint". Strange flight, as it turned out... But Auslese from Mosel are among the best sweet wines in the World... And at great pricing.

Closing

When all others left, I performed the cleaning up, dishwashing etc. My decisions to buy more bottles:
All Willi Schaefer bottles, the fantastic Zilliken and a bunch of the breathtaking Dr. H. Thanisch Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Auslese.
