Dinner - First course Boredetto 13 Fish Stew Second course Rosemary Standing Rib Roast au jus Potatoes au Gratin Green beans with shallots in mustard vinagrette Salad
Personally I really like this champagne as I feel it has more body than most in its price range. It is a great appertif wine by itself or to enjoy with hors'doeuvres. The wine is not overwhelmed by the bubbles and some of the steeliness of the chardonnay comes through the sweetness to make it really enjoyable.
I was very afraid there would be nothing left to this wine, but boy was I wrong. All the tannins have melted away making this a very lush drinker. Yes, some of the bolder fruit flavors were muted, but the mouthfeel was incredible. Hints of cherry, cinnamon. strawberry and pepper. Definitely WOTN. I cannot believe I paid only $14 for this wine. I just wish I had bought more! I do think that if you have any of these now is the time to drink them, as I would estimate at most a year or two left.
Fantastic cabernet from of all places Spain. First produced in 1969 and subsequently only in good years, this cabernet really shows well. Very well integrated fruit and tannins. This is drinking really well right now.
Wow! A great finish to a wonderful evening. This wine packs a lot of bang for the buck. Just the right amount of fruit and sweetness with only a hint of botyris and minerality. Super long finish made me keep swallowing after it was gone. Wish I had bought more!
