France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasted double blind. Slightly floral, nicely spiced aromatic start with forward red fruit aromas. Charming red cherry flavors with a forward, slightly sweet character. Very "2008" in terms of elegance and fine textures, I was surprised when this was unveiled as Rousseau.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Served double blind to the tasting group. Popped, decanted and poured. Very ripe black fruit aromas with some liqueur hints. Lots of spice on both nose and palate. Bit more advanced than I'd expect for a 2006. Soft, rounded finish. Tried again 2 hours later and it seemed slightly shorter. Unlikely to get more interesting with more time in cellar.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
In contrast to the Dublere 2006 Charmes-Chambertin, this is a 2006 that needs plenty more time in the cellar. Dense black fruit, very ripe, with background meaty spice. Dense, firm and lots of power with acidity and tannins somewhat more pronounced than the fruit and spice right now on palate. Not quite in harmony today, give this another 5+ years.
Tasted double blind. I don't know if there are multiple cuvees, but this is Rugiens Bas. Tasted blind, i thought this a 2000 past its peak, with an unclean, bretty edge. Got worse with more time in glass.
Tasted double blind. In contrast to the Gaunoux 2007 Rugiens in the next glass, this was charming and fresh. Red fruit, good spice and a slight floral note. Moderate concentration and finesse but a very charming wine that is very approachable right now.
Tasted double blind alongside its 1997 counterpart. Black fruit with slightly more earth than fruit, not much spice and a slightly dirty element. Going south? Tired bottle? 83 points today.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasted double blind. Open approx 30 minutes before serving. Tart red cherry aromas with a faint spice hints. Palate shows that same tart red cherry with lots of elegant tannins, lots of acidity. Lean and racy throughout, I was surprised this was from Gevrey. I think this will certainly benefit from more time in cellar, giving the structural components time to lose some more of their edge.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasted double blind. I don't recall having this wine in a long time, and it was sensational. Huge spice to start with lots of black and red cherry cherry on both nose and palate. Very dense and meaty, but with an elegant, well textured middle and finish. Once it was identified as from Gevrey, I thought it most likely from Claude Dugat...but until then I thought it from Vosne!
Tasted double blind. Clearly unlike most of the wine we tasted today, and clearly Napa Cab, this showed forward, ripe plum, currant and some cassis aromas. Long black fruit on palate with plenty of spice and vanilla. Good power and balance for this style of wine.

France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Tasted double blind. Lots of brett, I found this somewhat dirty and unwelcoming. Others liked this more than I did today.
