France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Dark with brownish tinge and look very old. Still holding on the nose with red fruits, cherry, mineral and flora. Mellow and smooth on palate, with blackcurrant and red fruits. Tannins has fully resolve with a decent finish. This has reach the end of its drinking window if not going down. Nevertheless this is a pleasant drinking bottle.
Dark ruby with matured mahogany hues, floral nose with mineral and blackcurrant. Still has some structure on palate, sweet fruits entry with blackcurrant and berry fruits. The tannins has almost dissolve and the finish is fairly long. Still holding and drinking nicely now although the fruits gradually faded after 2 hours.
Dark garnet with brick red hues, it has dark fruits, mineral, blackberry and floral notes on the nose. Soft and smooth entry, showing blackcurrant, tobacco and hints of floral. Good acidity with chewy tannins and long finish. Holding very well and clearly the better wine for tonight. Can still keep for another few more years.
Very dark colour and still look youthful, decanted for almost 2 hours and it is still tight on palate and gradually open up in the glass. Rich and structured on palate, exhibit blackcurrant, leather and earth. Finishes long with a grippy tannins. Drinking well after it open up but it can keep for at least another 5 years.
This is a pleasant surprise for tonight and I have never heard of dessert wines from Monbazillac before. It has a lifted nose of honey and apricot. Sweet and very good concentration on palate, showing the attractive borytritis character. Good length. This is very enjoyable and definitely worth seeking out.
