1961 A. Hallgarten Berncasteler Riesling Spätlese Eiswein 91 Points

This was explained to me as basically an Eiswein made with frozen Spätlese grapes (if that makes sense). Works out well in the execution though. An interesting style. At this stage, the color is a deep toffee. very little acidity - mostly drinks like a dessert wine. Showing honey, burnt sugar, caramel and toffee flavors. Evolves in the glass, as well as puts on considerable weight. A treat to drink.

1969 Hugel Traminer "Hugel" Réserve Exceptionelle 88 Points

A very interesting Gewurztraminer. At this stage, only showing secondary and tertiary characteristics. Still youthful color, showing little maturity. Cheesy, salty, green and seaspray aromas and flavors. Salty and fresh palate with lean medium plus finish. Lots of bite even at this age.

My WOTN. Deep mature golden brown color. Very viscous, with rich ripe apricot flavors, poached pear, honey,petrol, paraffin. Showing botrytis as well. For such a rich wine, I loved the acidity here as well.

A treat to drink. Color is still very youthful - The freshest out of the lineup - lots of citrus, lime leaf, lemongrass, petrol, peach. Slate and mineral on the palate with good acidity. well balanced. finishes clean.

1998 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Heimbourg 93 Points
France, Alsace
Deep mature golden brown color. Very aromatic with exotic flavors - Asian pear(quince), pumpkin spice, honey, apricot, kumquat, persimmons. Rich and layered with a deep deep core of ripe fruits. Botrytized?? Incredibly sweet and thick - Tokaj levels (4/5 puttonyos)
