  uncorked and decanted 3 hours in advance.
  Classic earthy-dusty aromas with notes of dark cherries.
  full bodied. grip tannins. limited complexity.
  generally a bit less expectations from this wine for this vintage...

• 1989 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 93 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

  Shiny garnet colour, still quite dark in the core.
  Quality perfumed aroma, tertiary notes of cedar, spices, leather.
  Full bodied, dense and rich on the palate, impressive structure, fresh with sweet and round, gentle tannins, great length. A real pleasure.

• 1982 Château Gruaud Larose 94 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

  transparent light red - brown.
  elegant fine tertiary aroma with earthy-leathery notes, ripe cherries, graphite & dried tobacco leaf.
  on the palate, still some fruits, nice acidity, soft silky tannins, fine flavours,
  long finish. Seems at peak.
