Great tasting in our little private circle. The topic was Barolo which is one of my favorite wines.
One of the best tasting I´ve ever had before. All the wines showed extremely well, no one was flawed, just a remarkable experience.
1989 Gaja Barbaresco 94 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
Colour: The most youthful in colour, dark cherry red.
Nose: Rose petal, sweet balsamic vinegar, red berries, a bit of cassis, malt and underbrush.
Palate: A great symbiosis of elegance and power. Med-acidity, med-finish. Gets better with some time in the glass and air. Still a lot of potential left.

1990 Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 95 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Colour: Light colour, watery on the rim.
Nose: Dried red berries, underbrush, dried flowers, licorice and a balsamic note.
Palate: Maybe the most elegant wine of the tasting. Seamless, nothing qualms stands out. Sour cherry and a hint of licorice again. Wonderful length. Maybe the biggest surprise in this tasting for me.
