Wonderful hospitality shown by the Vajra family and staff (thank you, Gian Marco). Milena was a gracious and warm hostess from the moment we exchanged our first correspondence. The enthusiasm and the passion for the business was epitomized by Isidoro, whose energy and desire to produce the best the land can offer were simply contagious. If wine was simply an expression of an attitude of the people who put their soul in the product, these wines would be without equal. Clearly the passion and the story here are inspirational to many a wine lover.
2013 G.D. Vajra Langhe Riesling Petracine
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
One of the first Rieslings in the valley. Unusual, perhaps, but if one thinks of wine's ability to age, Barolo and Riesling are quite alike. Arneis like aftertaste, bit of almond skin, sweeter, touch of peach. Reminiscent of an Alsatian riesling, actually Alsatian rootstock. 10m in steel tanks only, no wood.

2005 Luigi Baudana Barolo Baudana
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Aged in botti grande, aromatic and advanced for its age. Balanced wine with some medicinal aromas – steeped field grasses, wood. Needs another 3-5 yrs to achieve complexity, but seemingly quite advanced already. This '05 was not a G.D. Vajra made wine
