Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Clear medium lemon-green color. Clean, medium+ intense and youthful nose, easily identifiable as a Riesling. Dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ body with pronounced flavors with lots of stony and salty notes. Quite long finish. Slate? Mosel? To dry for Mosel but really great. This wine has years ahead and is a great example that even Kellers lesser wines can be astonishing.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Clear, beautiful deep golden color. Clean, intense and fully developed complex nose with petrol, honey, ripe pear, firn. Dry, full bodied mature wine with pronounced flavors and a long finish. Some saltiness, lots of ripe candied fruit, honey, dried apricot. Great example of an Austrian Smaragd, maybe a bit too much of everything. Makes me fed after a glass…
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Unfortunately we drank this wine in the same flight with the Singerriedel, because it a complete different wine. Much paler color, medium lemon-gold. Medium intense nose, fully developed with lots of fresh herbs, balm, mint. It develops more complex aromas with time in the glass. Elegant dry wine, almost lightweight compared with the Singerriedel. Good acidity and quite low alcohol. Stones, salt, acacia. Maybe lacks a bit of power on the mid palate. Needs lot of air and has several years ahead but won’t develop any further.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Clear, pale-medium lemon color. Medium intense developing nose with typical notes of oaked chardonnay. High (14,5%) but well integrated alcohol, full bodied and pronounced flavors of an elegant, but powerful Chardonnay. Ripe stoe fruit, pear, stones, salt, oak. Great Chardonnay which has 3-5 more years to grow and improve.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal My first impression: a great Barolo. Clear, pale garnet/tawny color, with super intense and fully developed aromas of smoke, smoked meat, sour cherries. Dry with high acidity and tannins, both perfectly integrated. Medium+ body and a long powerful finish with luscious fruit (sour cherries), oak, smoke, herbs, tobacco. Wonderful!!
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Not as clear and brilliant color as the Talbot (unfiltered). Quite comparable nose. A bit more softer and elegant but loses complexity over time. Drink up.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Quite good BDX. Nice nose of green pepper, tobacco, smoke, oak without any signs of brett. Medium body, medium intense flavors of red fruits, earthy notes and oak in a medium+ finish.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal What a surprise! Never thought that this is a Gantenbein Pinot. Lots of artificial strawberries and too much oak in the medium intense nose. Reminds me more of a middle class German Pinot. On the palate it shows its potential with power and complexity, but it taste quite sweet although it is bone dry and has a lot of strawberries and vanilla aromas. This bottle polarizes and can’t be compared with the great Coche Volnay. I doubt that the intense strawberry aromas will somehow integrate over time, but the oak will probably.
Glass: Riedel Syrah Universal Easily identifiable as a BDX blend. Fully developed aromas of lovage, brett and oak. Dry wine with medium tannins which are a bit dry. Medium+ intense flavors of red fruits, some sweetnes, green pepper. Nice wine.
Incredible wine. Motor oil! Super complex aromas in nose and palate. Dry fruits, honey, nuts, coffee, chocolate and great acidity which buffers the sweetness perfectly. Looong finish. Immortal! Lovely!
