Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2013 Domaine Patrick Javillier Puligny-Montrachet Les Levrons 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet

Slightly deeper colour than expected; lovely nose, open and attractive, floral, peach, minerals, very subtle oak; supple and juicy palate, rounder than expected initially, well-judged but present oak, steely acidity at lower temperatures; good length. Attractive, lovely style.

  • 2013 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Les Tillets 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Again a slightly deeper colour than expected; lovely nose, open, nice and mealy, hint of peach, toasty, good Meursault typicity; the palate is round and supple, youthful acidity, slightly more rustic than the Puligny Levrons, but better oak integration at present than the Puligny; savoury finish, good length.

  • 2013 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Clos du Cromin 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Strangely evolved colour, fullish yellow; slightly hollow nose, flowers and herbs but lacks fruit; slightly dull on the palate, lacks definition and precision. Nice enough but not exciting.

  • 2013 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Cuvée Les Clousots 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

A blend of Les Clous and Les Crotots, hence Clousots. Fresh and elegant style, much more refined than the Tillets, slender and compact, still a bit closed, slightly salty minerality, perfectly integrated oak, playful, tightly wound, almost Riesling-like finesse, a lovely wine but needs a few years. Pure but lacks some weight in the Meursault context.

  • 2013 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Tête de Murgers Cuvée 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

A blend of Les Casses-Têtes and Les Murgers de Monthélie. Lovely colour, pale but intense; complete and harmonious nose, deep, floral top notes, slightly toasty but otherwise no noticeable oak; energetic and balanced palate, fresh and mineral, complete, bright acidity, perfectly integrated oak, interesting nuance; very good length.

  • 2012 Forey Père et Fils Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

Medium colour, cherry red, purple rim; very pure and precise nose, fragrant and attractive, spiced peach, slightly toasty oak, violets, roses from the stalks; flowing and elegant palate, less powerful and majestic than the recently tasted Clos Vougeot 2012 but more silky and refined, beautifully integrated tannins, excellent balance; very good length.
