An equal blend of the three classic cépages. Relatively full colour; complex nose, relatively evolved (40% vin de réserve), hints of nuts and torrefaction, green herbs, apricot and red apple, minerals, good depth; the palate has a very fine mousse, is dry but rounded and with good weight, but also fresh and mineral; good length. Very good NV.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
A cool and mineral wine, fresh and pure, with lovely fruit (green apple, citrus, peach), very gentle oak and flowers, an attractive steely touch on the palate, light and elegant, ripe lemon, hint of crème patissière; lightish finish, moderately good length. Attractive, to drink young, but could do with more energy and flavour. High yields?
Warm style obviously but remarkably fresh and mineral for the 2003 vintage, vinous and spicy, ripe fruit but not pruney at all, tannins are dusty but ripe, transparent rather than big and concentrated, broad shoulders, satiny texture, black tea and black fruit finish, good length.
