France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Fairly faint nose initially of berries and herbs. Silky. Herbal and animal notes on the palate. Fine, bitter tannin; good acid. Still young, and continued to come out of its shell with air. Very good.

So much more open and ready than the other wine in the flight [Robert Arnoux 2004 Clos Vougeot]. Dark berry and liquor on the nose, pine needles. Very pretty nose. Silky texture and finish. Slight green notes (2004?) but not in a distracting way at all. Very good. Great flight.
Loads and loads of VA. Rich, sharp, and piercing. Acid and nail polish remover. After reveal, I noted that I had very much enjoyed several bottles of the 2009 vintage of this wine, so I have no idea what happened here. Bleh.
Clearly Cab Franc, in cleaner, less earthy style. Green pepper and blackberry. Not showing as great as I imagine it could be with age. This seems oh so young.
Very expressive, open, exotic nose of black berries, leather, smoke, and other interesting elements I could not immediately place. Almost leaps out of the glass. Huge attack - rich, big, almost chewy (overheard: you have to work through it, like a steak). Interesting.

Disgorged 2009. Oxidative orange peel on the nose. Bitter orange peel, richness, but missing brightness and vibrancy. Meh.
