Toast and ripe lemon, candied orange, balanced and stylish, creamy and elegant but not quite as seamless and silky as two or three years ago. Drink sooner rather than later.
Elegant and filigree, stylish and fresh, pure and precise, delicately sweet, slightly crisper and drier than the 2007, very expressive of vineyard, winemaker and vintage. Mature, but with time in hand.
A stunning bottle. Mature but fresh, harmonious and lively, crushed red and black berries, freshly ground black pepper, slatey minerality, elegant weight, beautifully balanced, toasted spices, red meat and a hint of iron, mostly resolved tannins continue to provide grip, very good length. Textbook Côte Rôtie. Now - 2020.
Pristine bottle, purchased en primeur. Immediately attractive and completely present straight from the bottle. Ripe blackcurrant fruit, floral fragrance, cedar, blonde tobacco and oak spice, with classic Léoville-Barton structure and poise even in this hot vintage, still very primary, fresh and digestible, good weight (13% ABV) and density, firm but ripe tannins, very good resonance and length. They did a sterling job in this challenging vintage. Drinking well, many years of life left. The Langoa comes close in this vintage, but the Léoville is somehow more profound and it will last longer too.
Mature but lively appearance, pale red colour; cedary nose, macerated spiced strawberries, good depth; elegantly sweet palate, silky and juicy, lively and entertaining, mature but fresh, powerful but transparent, good stuffing of fruit; quite hot on the complete finish, develops wonderful flavours of Grand Marnier, flowers and herb liqueur, very good length. A vibrant forty year old vintage port, fully mature but with the structure and the fruit to last for another 10-20 years.
Rich orange amber colour; impressive nose, deep and fresh, light but complex aromas of flowers, honey, caramel, candied orange fruit, hint of spice; concentrated palate, tangy acidity, medium sweet, subtle bitters; hint of Alpine herbs on the finish, light but complete, has good length.
