Although Zeyssholff wines are not generally available in the UK, because Olivier regularly attends CLWS he agreed to bring over thefamilies wines and show them to us.
Olivier mentioned that one inhibitor on sales of Alsace wine in the UK was the tall Germanic shaped bottles.
Interesting tasting from someone inimitally familiar with the wines.

2005 Zeyssolff Klevener de Heiligenstein 87 Points
France, Alsace, Klevener de Heiligenstein
'Klevener de Heiligenstein' is the grape variety, a rareity in Alsace. It was planted in Heiligenstein in 1742 by the mayor who'd been impressed with it on his travels to Italy. It is not the same as the similarly named Klevner but is apparently Savignan Rose which is the same as Traminer (or Gewurtztraminer - authorities differ) but clonally different thus tastes different, and it was only recognised and allowed its AC in 1997.
Sweetish nose, boiled sweet flavours, good balance of acidity and sweetness. Socks were not knocked off, but OK all the same.

2004 Zeyssolff Pinot Gris Hospices de Strasbourg 80 Points
France, Alsace
A marketing 'trick' where the wine from the same vineyard as the previous wine is sent to the Hospices de Strasbourg where it spends 10 months in old oak vats. Pear drop flavours, sourness, no noticeable oaking but a off chalky taste and a sour finish.

2003 Zeyssolff Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives 83 Points
France, Alsace
Bright pale white gold colour, heavy bodied, pleasant but for me not sweet enough and not enough balancing acid so a bit flabby with a sour finish. (13.5%abv 4/5.4 approx £14.5)

1997 Zeyssolff Gewurztraminer Sélection de Grains Nobles 80 Points
France, Alsace
Made from botrytised grapes. I really don't know what to make of this. I was expecting a dessert wine, but it is not sweet, there's not enough acidity to be refreshing, there is a little pepperyness. (13%abv -4/5.6 approx £16.60)
