Tasting, brief note. Not as deeply coloured as the Noisetiers 2005 which preceded it, retains some freshness on the palate, but the flavours are clearly maderised. Not rated.
Australia, Victoria, Western Victoria, Great Western
Tasting, brief note. Museum release 2005, bottle no. 225/230. A beautiful example of a classic Victoria Shiraz, mature but vigorous at 36 years of age, marries power, charm and elegance. Time in hand.
Tasting, brief note. This is the 2016 release, built around the outstanding 2013 vintage. It is a very elegant, harmonious wine, with delightful, ripe Cabernet fruit, and great drinkability even at this young age.
Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River
Tasting, brief note. Screwcap. Classic claret profile on the nose, blackberries, blackcurrants, cedar and tobacco; tannic palate, elegant style, not running out of steam yet.
USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
Tasting, brief note. My experience with Cayuse is very limited, so I hesitate to express a very firm opinion on this wine, but I can say that it is not what I look for in Syrah. Verging on overripe, full and fleshy, with a sweet-and-sour character and only very light tannins. Impressive in its way, but its extreme style is not for me. From the 4.5 acre Coccinelle vineyard, planted in 1998.
2014 Bernardus Winery Chardonnay 89 Points
USA, California, Central Coast, Monterey County
Tasting, brief note. Consistent with my previous notes, tropical fruit, not too oaky this time.

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Tasting, brief note. Almost impossibly youthful, tight and mineral, lemons and smoke, little or no toast. Classic.

2004 Dominus Napanook Red 90 Points

Tasting, brief note. Slightly metallic nose, clearly made in a bordeaux style, the Pomerol link is very much in evidence.

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
Slightly oxidative. Not a good bottle, in spite of an into neck level.
