Bourgogne Chamber of Commerce Wine Tour

An opportunity to taste some current releases from a handful of producers I know plus a few I haven't tried before. I unfortunately only had time to taste approximately half the wines in the room.

• 2010 Domaine J Coudray-Bizot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru La Croix Rameau

  Tasting, brief note. All red fruit with savory spice hints, surprisingly light for its level and the vintage. Moderate weight and length. Good, but I expected more.

• 2007 Domaine J Coudray-Bizot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru La Croix Rameau

  Tasting, brief note. Aging softly, this is also lighter styled red fruit with background spice alongside a fair amount of earth. Somewhat elegant.

  Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry with faint spice and meat. Also elegant;y styled, I'd never have thought this from Gevrey if served blind. Good overall.

  Tasting, brief note. Slightly reduced on nose, more forthcoming flavors. Bigger and richer vs Croix Rameau, but again more elegant than powerful, and not classically Gevrey to me. Good overall, but not really cellarworthy at this age.

  Tasting, brief note. slightly reductive start. Forward apple aromas, flavors with moderate concentration. Good length. I would want to give this more air before enjoying, but would also consider it best to drink young.

  Tasting, brief note. Much like the 2011 orchard fruit profile, but better concentration and length. Overall good but ripeness comes through on finish detracting slightly from overall balance. Good now.

  Tasting, brief note. Slightly reductive start. Black fruit with a good meaty character. Good+ power and length. Slightly backward for now, but I like the 86-88 point potential, especially for its level.
