  • 2013 Camel Valley Annie's Anniversary Brut Cornwall 89 Points

United Kingdom, England, South West, Cornwall

Really crisp and tight, bracing acidity (circa 9 gr/l), balanced by highish dosage (12 gr/l), tart citrus and a mélange of herbs and flowers, nice hint of honey on the palate, very good length. If the 2009 is something to go by, this will improve further with another few years in bottle.

  • 2005 Domaine du Haut Bourg Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu Origine 91 Points

France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu

Aged sur lie in underground concrete tanks for 10 years. Intense but bright colour - that flourescent greenish white gold which some Rieslings also have; the complex and deep nose is not easy to pin down, with subtle notes of aromatic green herbs, tropical fruit and hints of yeast and lowland malt; the palate is soft but fresh, dry but silky and supple, juicy and rounded, much more savoury than a normal Muscadet; finishes with a light sea breeze, good length. Completely ready, drink now - 2020.

  • 2014 Keermont Terrasse 90 Points

    South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch

Mainly dry-farmed old-vine Chenin Blanc, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier making up the remainder of the blend, mostly fermented and aged for 12 months in oak, bottled unfiltered, 14% ABV. Quite a rich and full style, vinous and flavoursome, slightly yeasty, pungent aromas of lemongrass and butterscotch, ripe citrus flavours, soft and rounded texture, good length. Until 2024.

Half bottle. Medium sweet, liquorous cherries and berries and flowers, slightly metallic acidity, more body than its light ABV suggests, muscat and green apple, uncomplicated finish, good length.
