Solid but no more than that. Sweet apple fruit has good richness and is balanced by crunchy acids. Still fresh with good fizziness. A bit simple and short.
Wow, this has delicious round mouthfeel with concentration for days and zesty, zingy acids. Full of florals, sweet orchard fruit and mineral. Long, long finish. In a gorgeous, youthful spot.
Fairly concentrated and ripe for the producer, but delicious. Sweet blackberry on the nose, with smoke, wood, fresh herb and spice adding depth. Wow fairly rich, almost unctuous fruit. Some real wood influence that is well integrated, but shows a vanilla note throughout.
81/82/83 flight. Stunning aromatics with that is sneaky powerful -- full on plum, black cherry, anise and cedar that is still youthfully powerful. Wow, the palate has great power and suave richness with fine tanning. This is both deep and long. Incredible balance and integration, wow.
81/82/83 flight. Very pretty aromatics of earth, cedar and mature fruit that is absolutely classic. The palate is pretty, if a little thin and dilute on the finish.
Decanted briefly a couple of hours before dinner. A bit muted on the nose, but if you look hard there is pretty red fruit and florals. The palate is more expressive, super delicious and pretty. Rich fruit that is lighter and traditionally styled. Gritty tannin that declares the wine's youth. Elegant, with so much damn potential.
This didn't get much air, and I think that it needed an extended decant to sort itself out. Aromatics were a bit volatile and uneven. Initially shows a bit muddy but with aggressive swirling it gets more nuanced and interesting with fruit, leather and florals. Palate is interesting with balsam, mature cherry, dried florals and tar. Perfectly mature fruit and totally integrated structure.
In a 98/13 flight. Decanted for two hours in the early morning, back into the bottle for ~11 hours, and then into a decanter at the restaurant for another 1-2 hours. Showed incredibly young for a 20-year old wine. A spectacular nose that is elegant yet powerful and full of florals, primary red cherry, and new leather. Palate has such purity and pin point balance, with restrained power. Awesome, with upside from here.
In a 98/13 flight. Decanted for a few hours before dinner. Muted and brooding nose. With swirling shows some primary, musky cherries. This is all power and tannin today, with a similar signature to the 98 tasted side-by-side. No sign of ripe or solar fruit. Young with chewy drying and grippy tannin. Should be great in 20+ years.
