Frankie Villar again at the helm taking us on a tour of white regions in Burgundy. A very identifiable theme unites all the wines that we tried but with interesting variations from one to another.
2015 Domaine Laroche Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Wine #1 at the Mavens third Burgundy class focusing on chardonnay.
Pale green with lots of minerality and nutty notes on the nose; high acid, lean, mineral, racy yet refined.

2016 Domaine Robert-Denogent Mâcon-Villages Les Sardines
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Mâcon-Villages
Wine #3 at the Mavens third Burgundy class focusing on chardonnay.
From a magnum. We wondered why the fish on the label but I guess it is called Les Sardines - which was not evident at the time. Pale straw, racy, lively acidity, nutty, citrus notes, minerality, lingers on the palate. We bought a magnum.
