WOW! Just perfectly balanced. Not too sweet. Not surprisingly, there are no bubbles left but that doesn't stop this from being a wildly enjoyable wine.

Massive sweet raisins and prunes. No bubbles left. If it wasn't for the 1955 that I had side-by-side, I would have liked this more, but the '55 was SO well-balanced that this one didn't quite stand up in comparison.

This took an hour to open up but then WOW! Went from like a 92 to a 96. Stunning wine with some air.

Would never have pegged this for a riesling. Tasted like a more traditional Italian white.

Just insane. Completely alive and the fruit is still standing strong. A truly magnificent wine and slice of history. Much darker and more vibrant than the 1947 in my opinion. Was my WOTN.

Incredibly light color--almost rose in color. But the fruit was alive and wonderful. WOTN for several people, though the 1939 topped it for me.

Wonderful after several hours decant. Perhaps even better the next day (24 hours later) when the red fruit came screaming back and was really strong.

Corked! :(

I wondered if this bottle was flawed. Tasted more like an old burgundy than an old barolo. Had a hint of "green" taste to me.

Absolutely love this stuff. Raisins and sugar, but extremely balanced and not overly sweet. This NV bottle we had supposedly came from the early-mid 60s.
