Introduction

1983 vs, 1989 Chateau Palmer

Flight 1 - Great Champagne from a Great Vintage. (1 Note)

Lovely starter.

Flight 2 - 1983 vs. 1989 Chateau Palmer (2 Notes)

Went well with the Filet Mignon.

  • 1983 Château Palmer 98 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Nose of mint, black berry, cassis, and tobacco, same on the palate, big body, delicious, very tasty, rich fruit, mouth filling fruit, opened nicely, at its best 75 minutes into dinner, to me better than the 1989, although two other members liked the 1989 better, time to drink up although will easily last another 10 years, and a long, long, long, flavorful finish and flavorful aftertaste. • 1989 Château Palmer 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Nose of tobacco, black berry, and black cherry, hint of a small amount of soft tannins on the mid palate, big body but less body than the 1983, intense fruit, lovely fruit, after 75 minutes it was almost gorgeous, this had 2 first place votes, long, long finish, nose to me was its weak point. Flight 3 - A Pleasant Surprise from Alex-thank you Alex. (1 Note)

Great White Burgundy.

  • 2016 Les Tourelles de la Crée Montagny 1er Cru 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Montagny 1er Cru

Supplied by Alex as his current find and tasted after the Chateau Palmer. Nose of minerals, hint of spice and citrus, lovely on the nose, same on the palate, medium/big body, mouth filling fruit, very mineral driven, opened nicely in the glass and is near its drinking peak, near term drinking for 3 to 5 years, and a long finish, very nice White Burgundy, all of us agreed this is nice Premier Cru Quality and good QPR.
