  • 2017 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

Tasting at the domaine. Racked/ assembled four weeks ago. Red berry and cherry on both nose and palate with more savory vs sweet spice, with even more spice emerging on finish. Good+ weight, very good length. Very impressive 93-94 point potential.

10-15% whole cluster in the larger les Rouges holding (2/3 of the crop), which has the older vines. This was done originally in 2016 to help fill the fermentation vat, then done again in 2017 and 2018.

  • 2017 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru

Tasting at the domaine. Racked/ assembled four weeks ago. More black vs red cherry with subtle floral hints along with smoked sausage. Good+ weight and length with a slightly firm finish. More density but less complexity vs the Echezeaux. This needs more time, 92-94 point potential, 2030-.

  • 2017 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Clos Vougeot 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

Tasting at the domaine. Racked/ assembled four weeks ago. Complex cross-section of red and black cherry everywhere with some roasted meat, anise and allspice. So much concentration, this is slightly backward today but such grace and potential. Once again, this is the star of the lineup, 94+ point potential.
