  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. All red cherry with Village level weight and length. Both sweet and bright on finish with nothing coarse, but neither is this too soft. Impressive 87-88 point potential for its level.

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. From 5 parcels across the village. Red cherry and berry with very good weight for its level, everything elegant and quite harmonious already with a savory spice-driven finish. Very good 88-90 point potential.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. A real step up in spice profile vs Vosne AC, even if only slightly more concentrated. Lots of sweet red cherry with an elegant finesse. Only 20-30% new oak helps keeps this delicate and bright. So charming already. 90-93 point potential, based mostly on how much weight it picks up.

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Also bright red throughout with slightly less spice than les Chaumes just tasted, but more density and textural charm. Very good 91-93 point potential.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Ripe and very powerful with red cherry, some black cherry. Brooding in the middle, then very powerful on long, long finish. I felt this wine is expressing its Malconsorts terroir and saying "leave me alone." Great 93-94 point potential, 2030-.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Echezeaux

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Also all red fruit from start-to-finish with very good harmony. Slightly lighter for the vintage for Grand Cru, and less expressive than the 1ers just tasted.Very pretty and texturally elegant.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Clos Vougeot

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Also all red fruit with lots of spice and a fleshy texture, without anything too flashy. Bright and elegant with Grand Cru density coming through clearly. 91-93 point potential here.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche La Grande Rue

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Grande Rue Grand Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Also very bright red fruit with enchanting savory Asian five spice. Such harmony and grace, this seem sto start softly, but expands, continues and expands some more towards a very long finish. still with such grace. Nothing overpowering here, but a wine of great density and finesse. 95+ point potential.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru La Croix Rameau

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled and brought for us). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. While a bit of sulfites easily distract us here, there is plenty of sweet and tart red cherry with a tannic finish that is probably accentuated by the sulfur notes, too. Still very long and showing good concentration. This might end up a hair better than Suchots or Chaumes, but they will be interesting to compare and contrast going forward.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Cras

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Nose and start on palate come across as very Vosne-like (Nicole Lamarche like?) with bright red fruit, subtle and fun spice and overall elegance. More power and structure emerge from the middle forward, yet this ends with silky tannins and good+ balance. Very good 90-92 point potential.

• 2018 Domaine Nicole Lamarche Grands-Echezeaux

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

  Barrel tasting at the domaine (sample assembled the night before). Everything 30-40% whole cluster. Interesting that Nicole concludes the tasting with this wine, which might not be as complex as Grande Rue, but is more powerful. So much sweet and tart red cherry here. Dense but elegant and bright with so much energy supplementing that power on its long finish. Very good 93-94 point potential.
