France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Even better tonight vs my last bottle from 2018. So much apple, baked apple and dried apricot with butterscotch. Very dense for 1er Cru, this stayed bright and lively through the entire night, lasting at least two hour in glass.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Almost identical to another bottle from a few weeks ago. Apple and pear on nose and palate, this opened up slowly and kept getting better with more air. Certainly upside from here.
Popped-and-poured. Great color, great fill (~3cm). What an intriguing wine. Less than 100% likelihood this is 100% Pinot Noir, but that is ok. Musty start, but rich black cherry with very Madeira-like quality. This somehow freshened up and got brighter with more time in glass for at least 30 minutes, then got softer and shorter. So much fun. 1964 birthday wine for Peter Wasserman's 55th.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Open an hour before serving. Seemed almost tired at first, this kept getting bigger and brighter with more time in glass. More spice kept coming through, red fruit kept getting more robust, more of everything got more pronounced. So good now, this wine has clear upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Mature black and red cherry aromas and flavors. Nothing "green" or bitter here. If served blind, I'd have clearly from a lean vintage, but no way 2004 (2001?). Good spice and weight and very good balance. So enjoyable now, best to enjoy through 2025 or so.
