Wonderfully dry, leesy, and long. Full of citrus. Outstanding and probably the closest in style to grower Champagne in my limited experience with cava.
Opened an hour beforehand. Light garnet core, pale, browning rim. Moderate sediment. Balsam wood and an aromatic twist of fennel. Light, resolved, elegant entry of faded strawberries retaining just a bit of natural sweetness. As it opened, a slightly discordant, harsher touch of stemminess crept in, but the fruit hung in admirably well, and it was not enough to upset our enjoyment of this mellow, fully mature Rioja. Another lovely 1964, although not quite at the level of the CUNE earlier this week.
The youngest of 3 PX sherries from this producer. Light golden amber. Sweet but not overly so. Simple date and fig but very pure. Way too early to be drinking this.
Opaque dark brown color. Incredibly sweet and figgy essence that is enlivened by strong acidity and a fascinating streak of herbaceousness. A great dessert sherry and my favorite of the flight.
Looks like crank case oil! Unbelievably intense and concentrated, almost solid like strainig a raisin through your mouth. Painfully sweet dried fig flavors without the complexity and acidity of the 1973. Still quite a treat to taste this rarity.
