Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured, tasted blind. Nose for me was quite muted that means: non existing. Acidity not yet fully integrated, rather lean, thought 2017. Good, but not special today. 87-88
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Drunk next to the Falkenstein. Way more fruit, more residual sugar. Certainly, at the moment the more open and pleasant wine. Incredible PQR. 89+
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. After the amazing 2002 Clos Du Mesnil from last Sunday it was kind of raw and edgy. Still very young, great potential, lots of citrus, very good pressure and tension. This evening around 92-93+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Beautiful Mersault, not much more to add to my note from 2019. Needs some time. 92
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured, tasted blind. Impressive nose with lots of popcorn. Full bodied, impressive Chardonnay. Great depth and length, lots of well-integrated oak. Very long. So surprised that this is from down under. Still very young. Needs time. 92-93+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Had three single vineyard Meursault and the Genevrières tonight. Suprising to see, that 2018 was not fat or broad shouldered. Lots of citrus and lime, oak is in the very back. Fine, good elegance, nice fruit, good mineral core and good length. Makes fun now, but needs 5+ years. 91-93+
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Unfortunately, we did not give this wine the time and air it deserves. My first glass was, hmm ok, lots of fine fruit but not much more. The last pour of the bottle showed a glimpse of why the name Giacosa is on the lable. It started to open up and showed more depth, herbs, overall complexity and length. Would love to taste it again in 3-5+ years with time and air. 90-93+
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured, tasted blind. Unfortunately, we did not give this wine the time and air it deserves. At first I thought again: Simple German Pinot. Very fruit driven, but rather simple. With some time and air it started to fire its engines. What an elegance, balance and harmony! Perfect, clean fruit. Incredible, how to perfectly mask 14% abv. This is so fresh, joyful and fruit driven. Amazing to taste this wine twice within a year. Would love to taste it again in 5 and 10 years. Fantastic wine! 94++
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Perfect bottle. Wonderful Rausch Auslese from Wagner. A real beauty with a wonderful integrated acidity. Elegant and balanced, long and lingering. 92-93
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Nose: airy, floral, exotic fruit, very pure and clean. Palate: Declassified Auslese, but very light and dancing on the tongue. Lots of ripe fruit, white peach, exotic fruit. Juicy, elegant, veery long. 93-94
Glass: Gabriel Standard *** brief notes for my memory, no official CT rating *** Popped and poured. Perfect bottle. Classic Ruwe nose. A real beauty, but it could not compete with the 1993 Abtsberg Auslese #83 we had two days before. 91-92
