Deep ruby. Forward, pointed aromas of grass, black pepper, and a certain whitish smoke and florals, and slight underripe black cherry. The black cherry fruits turn out much riper on the palate, as with cassis and cranberry, but also lots of young tannins and heated spices, with a firm grip. Quite a length, with much of ripe cranberry towards the back, then florals and graphite. Some 9 months after my last taste of this, and I can say it’s really getting better, though it does still have years ahead
Medium garnet, with a significant fade at edges. First nose impression of tobacco smoke and then charcuterie and roasted red bell peppers in olive oil. Some tobacco smokiness shows on the palate, then gives way to purple flowers and medium ripe red cherries, at the backdrop of soft tannins and fairly bright acids and minerals. A good length of florals, smoke, and graphite
Pale tawny, with significant edge fading. Strong fungal, mossy aromas. A rather light savouriness and mushroom characters on the palate, whilst having slight hint of cooked red cherry and some creamy soft tannins. Finish mostly of fungals and dried flowers. Gone well over the hill
Deep purple. Aromas of cassis and fresh cut grass, then a slight bit of paprika spice. Still some power from the tannins and fresh acids, with flavours of medium ripe black cherry and cassis, and grass, greyish minerals, cloves and tar. Mineral, floral finish, which gets very persistent. Nice!
Medium garnet, with significant fading on edge. Aromas of purple flowers, plum, blackberry, moss, and bits of tar. A cool minty feel with medium ripe blackberry flavours, as well as strong bright minerality. Long floral finish. Indeed a great wine!
