(blind) - medium yellow - hint of color. - cinnamon nutmeg oak. - medium + acid - not super high TA. - 13% alcohol - medium. - apple cinnamon - pie filling - 30% new french oak.
- sonoma coast?
Light and oaky.... Medium acid. oxidative, not reductive.
- burgundy - wouldn't be this oaked without more body and acid. - australia - would be more reductive? probably higher acid too? - Sonoma coast doesn't feel right but the structure doesn't seem consistent with Burgundy
Guess: Sonoma coast 2016 Actual: Burgundy 2015, ~15% new French oak.
Analysis: It was an older burgundy from 2015 which explains the slightly elevated ripeness and blunted acid.
(blind) Medium ruby, hint of purple. low luster. crazy rose petal terpenes. peach. Reductive fruit. 14.5% alcohol medium bitterness high tannins Some oak - 40% new oak.
Cab? it doesn't make much sense... too light in color.
Zinfandel? terpenes and structure would be consistent but it's pretty alcoholic.
Syrah - would be darker in color. less oak.
Guess: RRV Zinfandel 2018 - less ripe style like Turley? Actual: pinot willamette tannins - medium-med+. 2019 I suppose I misread the tannins as high, and that led me to this conclusion.

Actual: 2019 gruner veltliner federspiel
I missed: stone fruit (there was a hint in hindsight). I still didn't get phenolic bitterness or vegetal aspects but...I haven't tasted in a while.

Slight brett
14.5% alcohol

Rich ripe cherry.
Bordeaux, cahors/bandol
Coffee. deep fruit.

I misread the oak, but more importantly in my logic I overlooked the high acid...it should have ruled out Bdx.
