  • 2006 Bogle Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 84 Points

    USA, California

    Pale greenish yellow color, moderate nose of pear, grass, apple and peach. Medium body, crisp acid and moderate flavors of citrus, minerals and white pepper spice. Medium finish. Not bad, not wonderful.

  • 2006 Trapiche Chardonnay 83 Points

    Argentina, Mendoza

    Pale straw yellow, very tight nose of minerals and pit fruit. Medium body, lively acid, and low flavors of spice, lemon and wood. Medium finish. Lots of spice. Meh.

  • 2005 Rosenblum Cellars Syrah Vintner's Cuvée 84 Points

    USA, California

    Deep purple ruby color. Tight nose of funk, dark berries and some raspberry. Medium body, smooth acid, and medium dry tannins. Moderate flavors of blackberry, plum, spice, caramel and roasted nuts. Some heat, short finish. OK wine, decent fruit.

  • 2005 Bodega El Esteco Malbec Don David Reserve 85 Points

    Argentina, Valles Calchaquíes, Salta, Calchaquies

    Dark purple color. Aromatic blackberries and funk. Medium body, smooth acid and medium round tannins. Moderate flavors of dark berries, currant, blackberry, spice and some heat. Long finish. Good balance. I feel there are Malbecs of similar quality out there for less $.

  • 2005 Bodega El Esteco Cabernet Sauvignon Don David Reserve 87 Points

    Argentina, Valles Calchaquíes, Salta, Cafayate

    Deep purple ruby color. Moderate nose of tobacco, cherry and blackberry. Medium full body, smooth acid and high round tannins. Flavorful dark fruit, plum, currant, lots of spice and tobacco. Heat. Wonderful fruit, velvety, yum. A touch hot.

  • 2005 Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 88 Points

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley

    Deep purple ruby color. Relatively tight nose of funk, cedar, dark fruit, underlying sweetness. Medium full body, smooth acid and high soft tannins. Flavorful plum, blackberry, tobacco and wood. Long finish. Great complexity and balance of fruit and non-fruit flavors. Very nice.
