These were wines left by a long time member who passed away to enjoy by this esteemed group. It was my own unexpected honor to be invited to this event and be a part of this experience.
1970 Château Coutet Barsac 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
Nice rich viscous texture with delicate sweetness and a tasty creme brulee edge. Mellow and delicate flavor profile. Somewhat buttoned up compared to the more exciting 1975 Climens served along side. Rezek Society Dinner honoring Hugo

1975 Château Climens 95 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
A delicious showy treat. Ripe dense yellow tropical fruits with a tangy honeyed flavor that builds nicely over the silky dense rich oily texture. A beautiful wine drinking marvelously. Rezek Society dinner honoring Hugo.

1928 Château Mouton-d'Armailhacq 87 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
What a treat to try a nearly 100 year old wine clearly well kept, but now faded. Good dark browning brick color leads to a aromas of autumn leaves, and intriguing dried black spices. Perhaps less interesting flavors on the palate showing oxidized character with elements of dried dark fruits and spice. So educational. Well past prime and more about tasting a piece of history. 1952 Château Latour Grand Vin 89 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Dark earthy spiced aromas with some oxidative notes properly showed the age and vintage reputation. The flavors profile while somewhat interesting and indicative of Latour quality, came across as rather dull and less interesting then the aromas. A bit past prime drinking as the wine is faded with more notable tannin structure then fruit elements. Rezek Society honoring Hugo.

1961 Château Latour Grand Vin Flawed
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
The wine sadly showed clear oxidative notes in both the aromas and flavor profile. Still the wine had many redeeming qualities with rich dark fruit elements good spice, and excellent balance. A second bottle opened along side showed considerably better, but had just a small taste. Thinking this was more of a bottle issue. Provence was said to be excellent likely bought on release, thus probably a decaying cork issue sadly. Rezek Society honering Hugo.

1982 Château Léoville Las Cases 97 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
This was excellent. Dark ripe succulent fruit aromas led to a dense smooth round yummy flavor profile. Rich blackberry flavors dominate with wonderful structural balance and an enticing toasted roasted quality. Black pepper spices with savory elements added to the serious complexity of the wine. A long finish added further intrigue and demanded more sips. This was truly great. Rezek Socirty honing Hugo.

1968 D'Oliveiras Madeira Boal Reserva 91 Points
Portugal, Madeira
This was a delicate and refined Madeira showing pleasant classy elements of dried fig, roasted nuts, and perhaps a touch of orange peel. Although lighter in weight and intensity then I typically prefer, this was a delight. Rezek Society honoring Hugo.
