Medium gold. Not overly intense, lightly oxidative, tangerine, note of cream. Medium bodied, quite broad and oily, nutty, fresh acidity, tangerine and orange, medium/good length finish. Very good, drinking now and I wouldn't hold for too long.
Pale/medium straw. Deeper, more youthful and intense nose - very lightly oxidative, notes of petrol. Medium bodied, fresh, quite linear, peachy fruit, spice, lightly nutty, lovely vibrant acidity, good length finish. Excellent, drinking well but plenty in hand
Medium/deep garnet/mahogany. Developed, tobaccoey nose, touch of blood and some underlying sweet red fruit. Perhaps a touch confected? Medium bodied, soft, round, fully mature, touch of leather, spice, fresh acidity, harmonious but tails off a bit on the finish.
Blackcurrant fruited nose, youthful with spice and vanilla. Medium/full bodied, quite rich and dense still, sweet blackcurrant fruit, vanilla, soft tannins, fresh acidity. Long finish. Excellent, just about drinking but probably still some upside here.
Sweet blackcurrant fruited nose, youthful with vanilla, coconut and just a touch of orange peel. Medium/full bodied, blackcurrant fruit, sweet and quite sumptuous, soft tannins, nice contrasting fresh acidity, quite long, harmonious finish with orange peel notes. Drinking well, but no hurry.
1/6, good cork. Nose is old school, classic Rioja - leather, spice, tobacco, dark underlying fruit but less sweet than the Ardanza. Saline notes too. Medium bodied, a core of cool dark fruit, leather, spice, lovely vibrant acidity, firm but fine tannins still giving plenty of grip on the very good length finish. just marvellous, and with plenty in hand.
Quite ripe, dark fruit, touch of raisin. Meaty. Medium bodied, dark fruit, raisin, spices, balanced acidity, a touch firm on the finish but an excellent effort in the context of the vintage.
Notes becoming a touch sparse at this point - dark, broody, tobacco, cool. Medium bodied, cool dark fruit, tobacco. Excellent, needs another 2-3 years.
