Incredibly fresh. Lemon, white florals, wax, pear and spices on the nose. Palate is delicate, very composed and long. Delicious and really well put together. Drinking really nicely now.

Quite reductive on the nose - lemon, woody and orange otherwise. Feels in need of time to mesh on the palate, with lots of oak, reduction and ripeness from the fruit. Not too approachable at the moment but it should come together?

Smoky and waxy nose with apricot, quince and lemon as well. Rich and ripe on the palate, plenty of acidity kicking in to counter the viscosity. Good length and drinking well at this stage. Great to try this wine with current vintage pricing well beyond any value proposition.

Corked.

Spice, lemon, honey, pear and plum. Super energy on the palate, rich and ripe but with super acidity cutting through. Lovely presence on the palate and a perfect match for the pork belly dish.

Mineral, lime, smoke and slate. Palate is that little bit cooler than the WS, with plenty of mineral and tangy acidity. Good length and balance, but might be starting to close up a little - time for these to sleep?

Very open nose - roses, earthy iron, musk and cherry. Bright and clean red fruits on the palate, very open and approachable with some earth as well in the background. Palate has verve and flow to it. Delightful now, other 18s will likely take over in time but this was killing it tonight, maybe the best Rousseau Lavaux St. Jacques I've had.

Spice, cherry, violets, graphite and black cherries. Really needed some air time to open up. Lovely purity on the palate, with delicate red and black fruits mingling well. Textured and very well balanced. All the components here to do very nicely with time.

Dark black cherry, five spices, violet florals on the nose. Palate is fairly weighty but still retains a light step and lots of layered detail. Really like the profile of this, but more time is essential.

Densely coloured with the same profile across the fruit with black cherry, plum and smokey oak. Powerful palate, with lots of flavour density - still manages to hold on to some tension but it's a bit awkward structure wise right now and was the weakest of the Rousseau tasted tonight. Wouldn't budge an inch even with significant time in the glass.

Slate, red cherry, stems and strawberry. Lighter bodied, quite well balanced with good flow and composure. Lovely and starting to hit it's straps.

Really pretty nose - violet florals and open red and black fruits but also has more earthy character with iron and spice. Palate is pretty plush and showy right now, sweet fruited with a mineral core to it. Bright and crisp. Superbly delicious, possibly the best young Rousseau Clos de la Roche I've had.

Bit of a mix of the 2014 and 2015 profile here with the ripe, pretty fruit
but also a cool mineral core. Floral, slate, red cherries and earth. Bright and full, plenty of depth to the fruit. Nicely positioned to develop well.

Herbal and earthy with tobacco, cherry and spices. Good depth to the fruit, though it's restrained there are good layers to the flavour profile. Holding up very well but no rush to drink either.

~4000 bottles per vintage, 12 months in oak and chestnut barrels, first release since 2006 vintage.
Licorice, meaty notes, olives, herb, coffee and ash - a lot of character and complexity on the nose. Very balanced on the palate, with good texture and depth. Not too glossy or plush, retaining that aromatic profile and savoury flavour. Obviously young but already interesting and good.

Blackcurrant, plum, cedar, spice, autumn leaves and bacon on the nose. Palate is just now starting to develop, with the youthful richness starting to give way to more savory medium bodied flavour. Medium to good length here. Maybe a little in between phases but it should keep lifting from here.

Truffle, earth, raspberry, smoke and meaty notes on the nose. In good condition on the palate, retains some vibrant red fruit with fine but integrated tannins and lots of savoury flavour. This bottle was in a good spot for drinking now.

Had about 12 hours decant. Dark fruited nose with oak and coffee and tobacco. Mouth coating palate, tightly coiled with serious grip from the tannins. Really dense and deep. Requires serious time, the score is mostly on potential as it's really hard to tackle at the moment.

Cherry, raspberry - very floral, bright and lifted on the nose. Palate has the tannins well placed with the bright red fruit profile. Stretches out with air to show beautiful length. Young but clearly excellent quality.

Blueberry, violets, plum, vanilla and pepper on the nose - nose has good lift to it, very appealing. The palate has plenty more of that pretty fruit, but it doesn't quite mesh with the high alcohol which clips the length. If the alcohol subsides into the wine there is potential here.

Tobacco, cherry, raspberry, ash and smoke. Powerful, dense, but always in control - there is alcohol there but the fruit wraps around it and neither dominates, wonderful length. I don't know how Quintarelli always finds this balance but it's magic.

Ozone, mineral, honey, lemon, orange and smoke. Energy off the charts on the palate, beaming and intense fruit. Pure, distilled deliciousness. Incredible every time I've tried it.

Caramel, honey, quince, apricot and toast. Palate is complex, with the sweetness still shining brightly through. Wonderful balance and composure. This bottle was right up there with the best bottles of 75 d'Yquem that I've been lucky to try. Really amazing stuff.

1999 Jacques Selosse Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Millésimé 95 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Disgorged January 2009. Vanilla, floral, orange, pear, cumquat and some smoky oxi notes. Very much what I'd expect from this bottle. Good acidity, lift and precision - there is a touch of fruit sweetness that plays well against the light oxidative twang. Lovely wine, with the last sip the best of the glass.

2006 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 95 Points
France, Champagne
White florals, apple, pear, vanilla and lemon. Sweet fruit with good intensity and acidity that controls the line and length well. Really cracking bottle of this wine, has taken it up a notch since a bottle 2 years prior.

2006 Bérêche et Fils Champagne Premier Cru Le Cran Ludes 92 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
50% Chard, 50% Pinot noir, blend of two lieu-dits, 3g/l dosage and aged in old oak, disgorged 2013. Almond, orange, yellow florals, honey and a light smoky oxidative note. The palate shows that twangy ox and acid line, with plenty of texture to it. Really interesting and good drinking, but didn't quite keep pace next to the other two Champagnes.
