Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • NV Pertois-Moriset Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut PM.01 90 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

(Disgorged in June 2017, 100% Chardonnay from Grand Cru Côte des Blancs, base year 2014 with 15% reserve, dosage 2.5 gr/l)
A bit tight on the nose at first focused on Granny Smith apples, opens up with extended glass time with hazelnuts and lovely minerals and raspberries in a very pleasant way. Palate is very tight, showing some green apples acidity only. This should reward extended cellar time as it reveals layers of butter and raspberries. This was a bit disappointing at first, being so tight and muted. But at the same time it’s a positive sign, as it shows how youthful it is and the potential that will come with cellaring.
    (Probably best 2022-2032)

  • 1982 Louis Kremer Champagne 90 Points

    France, Champagne

Mature nose showing dried fruit and candied lemons. Opens up with chocolate and butterscotch notes. Lovely palate with red apples acidity and some candied fruit on the finish. This opens up in a lovely way with time in the glass. Very nice showing tonight.

  • 1976 Laurent-Perrier Champagne Brut Millésimé 93 Points

    France, Champagne

Mature nose showing some dried fruit and butterscotch notes and opens up with roasted coffee in a still refreshing way. Mature palate with a honey sweetness at first and opens up with a lovely intensity showing butterscotch, red apples acidity and a nice bittersweet touch on the lengthy finish. Still showing very well and should keep a few more years in this phase.

  • 2002 Paul Goerg Champagne Premier Cru Brut 89 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru

Very special on the nose showing mint, stone gravel and a hint of eucalyptus. Palate is still dominated by a lemon citrus acidity, but with time in the glass it becomes a bit dull and flat. Not sure if this will get better with extra cellar time.

  • 1982 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé 94 Points

    France, Champagne

Lovely nose showing gun powder at first and opens up with blood orange and rhubarbs in a delicious way. Mature palate showing citrus acidity and red fruit with the rhubarbs coming back again on the nice and lengthy finish.
    (Probably best 1997-2027)
