France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Leaf day. This just took at least two to three hours to come around. Dry vintage tannin but beautiful blue fruit underneath, lacy, continued, if fading. Can taste the structure and silkiness. Leafy and musky at first, just need air. 93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
At peak from the start. Expressive vintage fruit, so sweet and silky but blue and Gevrey. Very good concentration, if tasting slightly light in the lineup. 92-93
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
Decanted. Somewhat a rarity which really blossomed with air. Regal vintage structure filled with very perfumed blue fruit and meatiness. So much volume and drive, true power at its core. Le Chambertin singing its tune, split for WOTN. 95-96
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Not decanted, drinking well but still very far from peak. Can feel the substance. This vintage chez Rousseau is always edging to be complete, sweet blue fruit, meaty, grassy, ultra lifted, just slightly less complete than the perfect 2010 Rousseau Chambertin (but not so different on first sight). Ruchottes is more feminine, and more immediately elegant at that. Split for my WOTN. 95+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Decanted. This vintage is drinking really well with silky blue fruit and cherry, vanilla, perfume bottle, meat and grass. Very lifted and sweet. Less Charmes than it is 14; love Rousseau in cooler vintages. 93-94
2004 Dom Pérignon Champagne Jeff Koons Label 93 Points
France, Champagne
Sweet with good layers and richness. Coming around much nicer than when I last tasted. Not sure if there are differences between the labels. 93
