Third bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2019. Delicate, creamy, silky, intense but light as a feather, spicy and succulent, transparent and precise, papery tannins, elegant and long. Drinking beautifully.
Tasted blind. Fresh and youthful for its age, finely grained tannins, bright and sweet fruit, hint of vanilla, new world in style (I guessed it was from South Africa), very good length.
A batch of 54 barriques blended from 1994, 1996 and 2000, released in 2015. Bottle No. 010410 from 15,605 produced, 14% ABV. Tasted blind. Initially quite oxidative, really develops well with two hours in the decanter. Lovely balsamic notes and nutty depth, fresh and elegant, intense and salty, black fruit and mildly grippy tannins, deep and flowing, spicy American oak, excellent persistence. A wine of real elegance.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Ripe fruit, resinous oak, freshness, good weight and intensity, hint of toffee, satiny texture, ripe citrus and orchard fruit, dry finish. Needs more time to integrate the oak.
