Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 2019 Tyrrell's Shiraz 8 Acres 91 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Stemmy, herb, earthy and raspberry notes on the nose. Palate has more red fruit sweetness present though it still carries a spice and earthy undercurrent across its good length. Well balanced and composed, still very youthful. Very likeable.

  • 2021 Tyrrell's Shiraz 8 Acres 90 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Cranberry, raspberry, redcurrant and plum. Palate is super youthful with amped lift to the sweet and bright red fruit. Needs some time to take the edge off it but I think it'll get there.

  • 2021 Pax Syrah Sonoma Hillsides 88 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Intense purple coloured. Peppery, meaty, violets and sour cherry. Palate continues that meatiness that I think dips into brett which clashes a bit with the super fresh fruit. Not too dominant, but not sure what the future holds.

  • 2002 Lanson Champagne Noble Cuvée de Lanson Blanc de Blancs Brut 93 Points

    France, Champagne

Toasty, lemon curd, smoke and apple. Classic Lanson piercingly fresh acid line. Fruit has started to show a touch of roundness though it drives through with the acid and stays refreshing on the palate. Really lovely.

  • 2009 Château Moulinet-Lasserre 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Graphite, smoky cherry, violets and blackberry on the nose. Palate is working towards being resolved with the medium bodied fruit starting to soften. The acid still pushes through well but think this is drinking nicely now.

  • 2019 Te Mata Estate Coleraine 92 Points

New Zealand, North Island, Hawke's Bay

Blackcurrant, some herbs, pencil shavings and spice. Palate is sweet and bright with plenty of red fruit, though it's settling nicely with good depth and length. Really like the potential here.

  • 2018 Bodegas Peique Bierzo Ramón Valle 86 Points

    Spain, Castilla y León, Bierzo

Raspberry, smoky, meaty aromas. Palate is quite fruit forward although there is quite a bit of that smoky character as well. Medium length. Found it lacking some excitement, it's alright but feels a tad hollow.
