Not very interesting to begin with as the reduction dominated. So lean and bland, thought it might have even been a middle-of-the-road Chablis. Showed its pedigree with air. Excellent focus and minerality, vibrant lemon zest. Very youthful still and the last sip was the best.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune
Quite tropical on the nose with a little natural funk. Made in a ripe, oxidative manner with an old-school weight. Not familiar with this producer but this was very good.
Realised I had this wine 3 years ago and in comparison this showed some secondary development. Guessed a Gevrey from a warmer vintage like 2012 because of the iron, slightly alcoholic notes. Wasn’t showing well at first as the dark fruit appeared too dense and muddled, but it improved a lot with air. The power subsided and the quality of fruit came through with pure blueberry notes.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Tasting portion at 67PM. Perfumed, floral nose but true to form the palate was a wall of tannins. Some deep, dark cherry spice emerged with air, together with a lovely silky, velvet texture.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting portion at 67PM. Flint and ripe citrus fruit on the nose. A new-school Burgundy that combined piercing acidity with ripe fruit and some honey notes. My experiences with this producer have been consistently good.

2017 Xavier Monnot Beaune 1er Cru Les Toussaints 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Clearly a 2017 with the airy nature, thought it might have been a Chambolle with delicate red fruit. Not the most complex wine but very enjoyable.
