Flight 1 (9 Notes)

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Sémillon Single Vineyard Stevens 89 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Laundry powder, chalk, white florals and pear. Tangy sweet and sour acid profile, medium length. Nice upfront fruit power but just medium length. Should improve with time.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Sémillon Single Vineyard HVD 90 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Pear, lemon, peach and straw on the nose. Punchy palate, good acidity which matches nicely with the slightly richer profile of the HVD. Better length than the Stevens even though it's a touch softer through the middle. Might swap places with the Steves with age but it is showing better now

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Sémillon Single Vineyard Belford 86 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Belford

SMoke and pencil shavings. Shrill acidity is prominent on the palate and it ends up crushing the fruit and clipping the finish. Will probably settle with time, but it was rough going tonight.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Sémillon Pokolbin Hills Pokolbin 88 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Pokolbin

Lemon, lime and vanilla. Softed edged initially but the acid kicks in through the middle. Moderate depth and length. It's simple for now but it's quite a nice drink anyway.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Sémillon Vat 1 92 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Smoky, lemon, slate and white florals. Palate has an extra level of depth and texture, acid is clean and bright working well with the richer style fruit. Clear standout of the 22 Sems.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Vat 63 88 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Peach and pear, toasty. Shows more Chardonnay like on the palate, controlled fruit with some toast but also good Semillon freshness and cut. Not normally a fan of this but enjoyed this version.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Chardonnay HVD 89 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Mandarin and orange, yellow florals and some oak on the nose. Rich fruit profile, powerful through the mid palate and finish. Older school style but I liked it!

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Chardonnay Belford 86 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley, Belford

Nose a bit shut down, some oak and herbs. Palate is richer and riper, with lots of fruit flavour. Medium length bit a little disjointed today.

  • 2022 Tyrrell's Chardonnay Vat 47 92 Points

Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

Pear, straw, white florals and lemon. Palate has more restraint versus the other two Chards today and it is better for it, with more fruit clarity and brightness. Very nice length and promise for the future.
