Introduction

All Flights tasted blind and no clues was given to any Region or vintage or grape variety.

Flight 1 - Flight 1: Tasting Champagne blind first (4 Notes)

Most got it wrong for the grape variety, vintage.

For the Burgundy whites, most got it correct that its from Puligny Montrachet.

Flight 2 - Flight 2 (2 Notes)

70% got it correct while some guess its Italian.

  • 2017 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

When tasted blind, this wine have caught my attention as it have notes of candied red fruits which initially I thought it was a Gamay or a young Southern Rhone wine. The nose is perfuming and aromatic. Medium finish, medium acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is fine. Drinking well now. Not sure if it will improve as I like the primary notes that the wine exhibit now.

Tasted blind. Can guess easily that this is a Burgundy red with typical red fruits, red cherry and strawberry. Medium finish, medium acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is fine. Just entered drinking window. Will improve with ageing. Still youthful. Guess that its a village as I tasted it blind.

  • 2017 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

Always find it consistent that for Vogue wine, regardless Grand cru to village, it need time to age and it will have to take a long time to reach its potential. Still youthful and it has not reach drinking window yet. Keep to improve. Guess that its a village as I tasted it blind.

  • 2017 Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

Tasted blind. Very pale in appearance. Nose is medium. Unlike its white, the red to me is average. I remember its white as opulent in nose compared to the white medium nose intensity. Notes of red fruits, red cherry and strawberry. Not sure if it will improve with ageing.

Closing

The WOTN for me is Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge for its perfuming and aromatic nose. Did not manage to collate the WOTN for majority.
