Once again by the glass as a welcome at the Ledbury, London.
Never fails us this wine no matter how many times we try it. Rich profile, honey undertone and full of energetic. Much like last time a few months ago a very easy 92

  • 2007 Arnaud Ente Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes d'Or 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

A bit of a unicorn of a wine and sort of those rare experiences.
No premox in sight here. The wine is indeed on the fresh side of things too albeit it is well into it secondary phase. Elegant, effortless beauty. The fruit is there albeit evolved, soft stone fruit, citrus and with a mineral edge. Any oak used in the elevage has long been assimilated and the wine just sang the classic elegant tune of well aged Burgundy. Not overtrying and in a way asking you to come in a look for the different elements. Now is it worth the hyped pricing, probably not but still an excellent wine and a solid 93-94

  • 2005 Domaine des Lambrays Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Loups 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru

Its been a long time since we had a 2005 burg that was not massive or rough or a bit of everything and we felt the softer side of MstD definitely lends well to a big vintage like 2005. Savory wine at this stage and definitely in a well secondary stage, made with a light hand so the 2005 vintage does not over dominate the wine and really has a beauty to it across. elegant and with a class and albeit we are lovers of softer vintages in Burgundy this performed impressively well. 92-93 adn has another 10 years easy.

  • 2015 Two Vintners Syrah Some Days are Stones 92 Points

USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley

We asked for SQN and the Sommelier at The Ledbury , London suggested this. We were really perplexed by the choice until we tried the wine. Big wine, very much a North American Syrah, rich and powerful , muscular but also with a finesse and sort of balance even at this power levels. The nose is really the highlight of the wine at this stage, floral and bright with nice spice and dark fruits. The oak is there but does not dominate the wine on account of the how much substance the wine has. Good acidity and really a bit on the start of its drinking window. Give this time, decent time. 92 for now and a pretty one.
