A wonderful lazy Sunday afternoon with friends, charcuterie, roast chicken, and a boatload of wonderful cru Beaujolais, some of which were flawed, but none of which were over the hill.
2010 Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive Flawed
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
Light ruby. Mild TCA came out over time. Nevertheless, obviously an excellent wine-light, flowing, and supple with naturally sweet fruit and citrus, very good finish. A pity about it being slightly corked. I look forward to trying a pristine bottle.

2009 Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
Light ruby. Ripe cherry aroma. Medium to light weight but deeply imbued fruit with excellent supporting acidity and soil. Clean, gently sweet but completely serious wine. Beautiful to drink now but this has plenty left in the tank-impressive!

2009 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Javernières
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Ruby. Fragrant blackberry and charcoal. Powerful licorice, soil, and black fruit coat the tongue, very solid acidity. Long tannic finish. Wow, this is classically structured and still very young. It was the only Burgaud wine today that wasn't afflicted by brett, and as such was my favorite of the bunch.

2009 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Reserve
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Deep ruby. Definite barnyard here. Medium weight, excellent mix of blackberry and soil with excellent acidity. Leaner than the Javernières, cleaner than it smells, again very structured and quite saline. Would be outstanding were it not for the heavy brett.

2009 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Côte du Py Vieilles Vignes
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Ruby. Light brett notes. Somber and chewy with light funk but very deep blackberry and minerality. Pungent with creosote and an interesting citrus twist. Tannic finish. These Burgauds are immensely impressive old fashioned brutes that need significant aging, but they also need cleaner vinification practices.
