Introduction

Bottom tier Pinot Noir is a real challenge, Hope these tasting notes help you.

Flight 1 - Usually tough to find a House Pinot Noir. (4 Notes)

So, I tried 4 Pinot Noirs under $11 and was pleasantly surprised.

  • 2020 Folie à Deux Pinot Noir Ménage à Trois Luscious 91 Points

    USA, California

    (2/24/2024)

Nose of sweet and sour fruit, barnyard, hints of leather and earth, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, easily wiped out its peers this week, very fruity, very rich, lovely, long finish and pleasant aftertaste. About 20% of the way to Red Burgundy but the QPR is awesome. CVS $7.99 makes it worth looking for!!!!!

  • 2021 Souverain Pinot Noir California 82 Points

    USA, California

    (2/19/2024)

A Safeway closeout at $4.97 a bottle reduced from $12.97 a bottle, bought the last 2 bottles. Nose of sweet and sour fruit with hints of black berry, same on the palate, medium body of pinot noir fruit came through here on palate, mid palate, and medium finish, best part was the taste and mouthfeel, very simple, very subtle, felt like Pinot Noir that never grew up but had some potential to do so. Worth $5 but not more.
