3/12, crumbly cork. Decanted 1/2 hour. Shows red and lack berry fruit, smoky, cedar notes. Quite aromatic. Medium bodied, red and black berries, cedar, smoke, no more than middleweight, fresh acids, tannins a touch dry on the medium/good length finish. Very good indeed, drinking well, no hurry.
Lovely pure cassis fruit, just a hint of smoke and gravel, floral top notes. Medium/full bodied, dark fruit, touch of spice, refined (soft) tannins, glides across the palate, fresh acids, long, harmonious finish. Showing its class, excellent.
5/12, double decanted about 1 hour before consuming. Immediately open and appealing on the nose with rich, ripe blackcurrant fruit, spice, vanilla notes, touch of mocha. Medium/full bodied, rich and ripe with soft tannins, lashings of blackcurrant fruit, vanilla, fresh acids, good length slightly firm finish. Excellent though and still quite youthful.
This had a lovely classic claret nose with dark fruit and smoky mineral notes. Medium/full bodied, mouth-filling dark fruits on entry, fine tannins, fresh acids, harmonious and long with some savoury meaty notes coming through on the finish. Lovely.
This again has lovely, pure, almost noble blackcurrant fruit on the nose, as sense of smoke and mineral too, cedar. Quite youthful. Medium/full bodied, dark fruit, cedary, fresh acids with some grippy tannin still on the good length finish. Excellent.
This has a lovely, if somewhat stern classic claret nose with dark fruit overlaid by smoky, gravelly mineral notes. A touch of green here too but it adds rather detracts. It’s medium/full bodied on the palate, with cool, minerally dark fruit, still slightly firm tannins, fresh acids, perhaps falling away a touch on the medium/good length slightly drying finish. Overall excellent though and very enjoyable in what might be considered a slightly old-fashioned style.
Notes a bit sparse on this I’m afraid but it was a rich wine with stone fruits and barley-sugar, offfset by lovely vibrant acids which carried a good length finish. Lovely.
