Introduction

Steven hosted an incredible lunch for 30-35 people and I felt incredibly lucky to be invited. Sat next to Carlos and across from Chef Joho!

Flight 1 - Passed Hors d'Oeuvres (1 Note)

Also several wonderful vintage champagnes in mag.

Flight 2 - Salad of duck confit with quince and chanterelles (1 Note)

Flight 3 - Angus beef tenderloin with short rib raviolo, white carrots and parsnips (4 Notes)

  • 1985 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Full red color. Typical Pichon towering floral cofee red fruit aromas - absolutely lovely. A bit musty on the palate but with nice round red fruit and firm acidic finish. 94 pts.

  • 1976 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune Grèves 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune

    Light crimson red. Subdued aroma of sweet strawberry briar. Lovely mature candied red fruit and secondary tea flavors. Very nice, but probably just past its prime. 92 pts. 10/05

  • 1955 Château Cos d'Estournel 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

    Full crimson red. Lovely rich bright red fruit and cedar. Wonderful rich mature red fruit with some spiciness on the finish. A nice mature example of bordeaux. 93+ pts. 10/05

  • 1957 Château Gruaud Larose 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    Full coffee red with slight bricking at the edges. Full tight aroma fo black current fruit with hints of coffee. Lovely rich ripe bright black current fruit. Still showing surprising youth, especially for a very 'average' vintage. Excellent. 95 pts. 10/05

Flight 4 - Mignardises (1 Note)

  • 1963 Cockburn Porto Vintage 93 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Brigt ruby red. Full rich red chocolately spicy aroma. Ripe rich round slightly hot fruit on the palate. Nice, especially with mignardises. 93+ pts. 10/05
