Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 1999 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 92 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Deep red with a watery edge. Initial nose of iodine and hung game, then sweet dark fruits pepper and spice and licorice. Very smooth entry some initial sweetness then a full mid palate with earthy minerals and complex fruit. Good refreshing acidity and a long finish. Really drinking well now and should last for many years yet

  • 1995 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Opened and drunk. Paler red / orange rim compared to the earlier 1999. Complex nose of licorice, iodine cherries and herbs. Balanced palate with red fruit herbs and spice with a long complex finish. Got better glass by glass - maybe should have decanted this. Lovely wine that is so easy to drink!
