Medium depth center, tawny edge. Very attractive plum and cedar on the nose. Again on the palate, lovely, medium weight plum fruit sweetness without that much tannic structure but some lurking acidity. Forward, accessible, and very seductive style.
I hope I've noted the right Corino (Giovanni, not Renato). Fairly pale. High toned aromatics with predominant camphor rather than fruit. Lean style with some subtle sweetness, a hint of tar, significant structure but lovely with nice length.
Pale, looks like a Pinot. Not that forthcoming but distinct minty aromas. Lean but not scrawny with a good balanced feel, but this has some harsher, late arriving tannins which give a sense of some austerity today.
Medium color, more extracted than the Corino or Einaudi wines. Ripe fruit nose with a touch of florality. Bigger than most of these wines and much rounder with monochromatic black fruit. To my taste, significantly less detail, cut, and interest than some of these other wines.
Medium center, tawny edge. Rich, ripe (but not overly so), and spicy. This is large scaled and seamlessly round, with sweet dark fruit and brown spices at the end accompanied by ripe tannins. Impressive inner mouth aromatics and incredible penetration into all crevices of the mouth!
Healthy clear red color. Complex notes of forest floor. Medium to lighter weight (striking after tasting an '03), this has an authoritative entry with deep black cherry fruit, then fades a bit in intensity and finishes with earthiness and moderate acidity. Again, the tannins here have amazing penetration and persistence on the aftertaste.
